The Survivor Series: WarGames event left us with more mysteries than answers, but it certainly delivered on entertainment and creativity. From Liv Morgan's unexpected comeback to the intriguing setup of The Vision team's victory in the men's WarGames match, and AJ Lee's pin over Becky Lynch in the women's match, there's a lot to unpack. But the biggest question on everyone's mind is: Who was the mysterious attacker targeting CM Punk?
As the men's WarGames match concluded, a figure cloaked in black, hood up, climbed over the cage and delivered a powerful superkick and stomp to CM Punk. The moves were reminiscent of Seth Rollins, who has been sidelined due to an injury, but this seems like a clever diversion. Could it be a former competitor like Randy Orton, who's been absent for two months? Or perhaps Austin Theory, who's been out of action since July? And here's where it gets controversial: what if it's AEW's Chris Jericho, making a shocking return to WWE for the first time since 2018? The identity of this attacker will be a massive reveal, given the suspenseful ending to Survivor Series.
Bron Breakker's performance in the men's WarGames match was a standout moment. After the mystery man's attack, Breakker delivered a devastating spear and pinned Punk. The match began with a tense staredown between Punk and Breakker, a five-minute preview of what could be a future world title match between these two. Breakker's pin over Punk solidified this thought, and while Logan Paul had an impressive showing for Team Vision, it was Breakker who sealed the deal. I believe Paul has a bright future as a world champion, but after Survivor Series, it seems Breakker might be Punk's next challenger.
Dominik Mysterio reclaimed the Intercontinental Championship with a little help from Liv Morgan. In a match full of twists, Mysterio pinned John Cena, employing some underhanded tactics like feigning a shoulder injury to bring in medical attention and setting up an attack on Cena by Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. He even evoked the spirit of Eddie Guerrero by loosening his boot, causing Cena to waste time trying to remove it while applying the STF. The finish was a masterpiece: Liv Morgan returned, slapped Mysterio, then hugged Cena, only to turn on him with a kick to the groin, allowing Mysterio to win. It was a highly entertaining and impressive win for Mysterio, who has been a part of three of Cena's final four WWE matches, a huge accomplishment.
Stephanie Vaquer successfully defended her Women's World Championship against Nikki Bella, a wise decision considering Vaquer represents the present and future of WWE. Vaquer has a plethora of challengers, many of whom were part of the WarGames match.
AJ Lee stole the show in the women's WarGames match, submitting Becky Lynch with the Black Widow. This sets the stage for a singles match between the two, hopefully at WrestleMania. Iyo Sky had the moment of the match, and perhaps the night, leaping off the cage while wearing a garbage can and landing on her opponents. Lash Legend also impressed, showcasing her dominance as a former WNBA and college basketball player. Charlotte Flair's attire paid tribute to 7-year-old Scarlett, who is battling a brain tumor, a truly classy move by the WWE superstar.
The Survivor Series: WarGames event was a rollercoaster of emotions and surprises, leaving us with more questions than answers. Who do you think the mysterious attacker was? And what do you make of the potential future matches hinted at during the event? Let's discuss in the comments!
